About the Recipe
Bread Manchurian is a modern Indo-Chinese dish that originated in Indian Chinese restaurants and home kitchens in the late 20th century. It is made by coating cubes of bread (often stale) in a batter, deep-frying them until crisp, and then tossing them in a sauce made with soy sauce, chili sauce, vinegar, ginger, garlic, and vegetables like bell peppers and onions. It is served as an appetizer or snack, showcasing the sweet, spicy, and sour flavors characteristic of the Indo-Chinese culinary fusion.

Ingredients
4 slices bread
1 tablespoon spring onion
1 tablespoon oil
1 tablespoon oil
1 tablespoon garlic finely chopped
½ cup onion finely chopped
¼ cup capsicum finely chopped
2-3 red chillies, soaked and ground into a paste
1 tablespoon tomato sauce
½ teaspoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon vinegar or lemon juice
¼ cup water
Salt to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Cut 4 bread slices into small squares. Toast it in oil until golden brown and crisp. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
Step 2
Heat oil in the same pan add garlic fry until golden. Add finely chopped onion, capsicum along with required salt. Sauté until onion turns transparent. Just sauté for a minute. Add soy sauce, red chilli paste and tomato sauce. Give a quick mix, and add a splash of water. Let the sauce boil for a minute or two or until it is slightly thick.
